S2 Hockey will continue with efforts to move the program in a solid and sincere direction, with the goal being to maintain a Triple A presence in West Michigan and provide a great playing experience for it’s athletes. With that goal in mind, S2 is revising many aspects of the organization including hiring processes and communication/feedback procedures for both internal staff and player families. S2 Hockey has also elected new members to it’s board, strengthening a group of very dedicated community leaders committed to making Triple A hockey succeed in West Michigan. The board will govern all aspects of S2 Hockey and will serve alongside the Program Director and coaching staff in setting the highest standards possible within the organization. Please visit the S2 Hockey website in the upcoming weeks, as board members and their associated bios are in the process of being posted.

S2 will also be working to cultivate relationships with other youth hockey organizations in an effort to strengthen playing opportunities for all players, at all levels. S2 did not enter into a management agreement with KOHA this year, but will be exploring ways that programs can work together to provide quality playing experiences at every level.

S2 AAA is pleased to announce that Mark Lawrence is going to be joining the Chicago Steel scouting staff.  Mark will be responsible for the Tier One prospects league that is sponsored by the NAHL.  Mark’s duties will be to evaluate kids for the USHL prospects camps that are hosted in Chicago and also to recommend kids to the Chicago Steel of the USHL.  The Chicago Steel “is very excited to add someone of Mark’s hockey background to our organization and league.” Coach Steve Poapst has commented about his recent hire.  This is another great step in rebuilding our foundation from the top down.  This gives our AAA kids and our program the exposure they need to explore their dreams.  Again Congrats to Mark.

Dear S2 AAA Hockey Parents and Players,

Over the last couple of months, I have done a lot of thinking as to the direction of this organization. Two important questions come to mind – “What am I trying to achieve with my sponsorship at S2?” and “What are the goals of the S2 AAA Hockey Organization?” As players and parents, I believe I owe you the answers to these questions.

“Our goal as an organization is to develop young players and prepare them for life. S2 will provide an avenue for each individual to develop their life skills in a competitive orientated team environment.”

This statement will be our mission statement as an organization. Each person in our organization will hold this statement in high regards. As a sponsor, I will demand that everyone involved in our organization put this statement before any of their individual needs.  Our players will always come first.

As an organization, we have learned important lessons along the way. Yes, we have made mistakes and I will be the first to admit those mistakes. We have put growth ahead of communication with you as parents and players. We have not done a very good job of hearing your voice or your concerns. We have lacked the details that are needed for any business or organization to be successful.

With that said, the goal of this letter is to let you know that our direction and leadership at S2 AAA Hockey is going to change. We are going to start over with a few new faces and a few old faces, all who share the same common goal as I.  This organization will be about our community and the development of our players.  I will no longer allow disconnects of communication within the organization.

I am committed to improving the name of S2 AAA Hockey and I believe this is the first step in the right direction. It will not happen overnight and I understand this is the first step of many to come. I ask for your patience as players and parents as we reshape S2 AAA Hockey to make it a place you are proud to be a part of and play for.

NAPHL 2009-10 Schedule

S2 Hockey is proud to announce the formation of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). With the support of USA Hockey and the North American Hockey League we believe that we are on course to becoming a Premier Tier 1 program where players who aspire to move to the next level will have every opportunity to do so. In our pursuit of providing our student/athletes the opportunity to play at the next level, S2 is very excited to take part in this new endeavor.
